In each instance related to Shawn’s teaching over the past 5 years, I have been impressed by his thorough knowledge of USGBC and LEED. Because of his passion for green building, Shawn is at the same time engaged and engaging, humble but confident, articulate but a great listener, and an inspiring speaker and person.  In summary, I can only speak of Shawn in the very highest of terms, and it has been my great honor to know him as a friend and USGBC colleague.

Thanks for all the hard work on that project for UC… That certification probably would not have happened without your (Chad Edwards) diligence and approach to the issues.

Shawn understands the world of nonprofits.  When discussing projects with him he is fully aware of the process that is involved from working with volunteer committees, to creating materials that can be used in fundraising.  He has always been patient and willing to provide any extra information that would make our volunteers or funders more informed about a project.  Most important of all, Shawn is committed to sustainability and green design.  It is clear in working with him that he is passionate about this, and not only is he passionate, but he is good at what he does on all levels – from guiding the client through the decision making process, to creating a wonderful design, to helping make the difficult decisions that nonprofits with limited resources often need to make.    

Dear Shawn, Thank you so much for attending my dinner and Sustainability Forum featuring Professor Eicke Weber.  Both Prof. Weber and I were very impressed with your insight and I truly appreciate your enthusiasm for sustainability, especially in architecture and building.  Thank you again for making this event such a great success and I know that we will continue to work together on sustainability issues in the future.  

You (Alan Hautman) have consistently exceeded my expectations as well as those attributes that the Corps typically evaluates. I have always enjoyed our working relationship which is marked by honestly and integrity as well as the knowledge and expertise of your entire staff. On any given project you have found the one true innovation to success for our military customers that go beyond the standards of quality, schedule and budget.
