This new $11.4 million dormitory is dedicated to the students of the School of Aerospace Medicine. A Master Plan was created to optimize land utilization and create a clear plan for future campus development, including three additional dormitory buildings and a dining facility. New vehicle, motorcycle and bicycle parking is provided. The brick and standing seam metal roof were selected to relate to surrounding buildings on campus. Various refinements are being investigated.
Three stories will house 192 students and additional community facilities including a 40 person classroom, computer lab, laundry, vending area, administration office, game room and TV/Lounge room. The double occupancy environment allows for a shared bathroom and closet facilities. Rooms are provided with cable TV, telephone and internet access. Furnishings, accessories and interior finishes are included in the building design and construction. This new Dormitory Project will be designed and constructed to a LEED Silver Certification level.
