The Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati is a non-profit organization whose mission is to resolve serious legal problems of low-income people, promote economic and family stability, and reduce poverty through effective legal assistance. Their facility, called the Community Law Center, was in need of energy efficiency upgrades and the Board of Directors was interested in pursuing LEED-EB Certification.
Emersion Design teamed with BC+E Engineering to perform a full building systems, envelope, and operations audit. The scope included analysis and proposal of replacement HVAC systems, lighting and plumbing fixtures, windows, entry vestibules, and roof insulation. In addition to the facility alterations, operations and maintenance strategies were examined for LEED-EB Certification including recycling programs, Green cleaning programs, maintenance schedules and plans, and sustainable purchasing policies. A green vegetated roof analysis was performed as well as assessments for energy credits and tax abatements.
