Originally planned as a standard Ohio OSDM-compliant project, the new K-6 Finneytown Elementary School evolved into a next-generation learning environment after emersion DESIGN guided FLSD through the development of a district-wide Educational Vision and Educational Specifications process. The school is organized around student-centered learning communities that foster collaboration among teams of teachers. Each community includes shared planning and professional workspace, allowing educators to flexibly schedule learning environments that best support instructional goals. A variety of spaces accommodate small and large group learning, independent work, project-based and Socratic instruction, and student wellness, creating an adaptable environment focused on learners’ needs rather than traditional classroom ownership.
